Fantastic use of shadows to create a beautiful composition that tells a mysterious story Avi. Beautiful tonal distribution. Love the use of the person in almost total darkness to draw your eye towards the details in the darker tones on the left side of the shot.

Yes, I am indeed in color mood.. but cannot leave old flames totally :):) .. actually I uploaded this shot mainly to show a point or two about composition and post process to our good friend Krishnendu.
As for the wheel (it is really a car tire), for me it added a curved line in the composition with mainly straight lines. It's just the whole geometry of the scene that appealed to me. And yes, it is a very static frame, I agree.

Dear Doug you know me before this usefilm era, so I don't need superfluous explanations but for once let me say that I met Avi some weeks ago in Philadelphia, he is a good photographer and a better man but even if he weren't a friend I'd feel free to critic his work (just like you) because we are in a free world and in a forum about photography, that's all; he usually gets my hardest critis just beacuse he is a friend, with others I don't lose my time unless they are great shooters
about diplomacy, actually diplomacy is not one of my virtues but probably you know what I'm talking about :)

better than previous one Avi, but not your best in my opinion: there is not a good balance of objects (I see just objects in the picture, my apologizes if you see and human being :), for me the wheel breaks the dynamism, it's a bit static shot (lately I'm becoming very obsesed about rhythm), however it has very good points, what is the rule in your work, enough for a double award of which I'm very proud
btw, jeje, you told me you are in a color mood these days, I see :)

I am not sure what is the relation of my comments on that thread with this picture. I have been a member of this website for a considerable time now, I like it very much (like you and many others) and have enjoyed a lot viewing images and interacting on photography. And of course, like many others, I have also learnt a lot from here.
Having said that, as a donor member I think I am perfectly entitled to voice my concerns and disappointments when I see issues with the site such as the front page not being refreshed for days, or the project of the month going on for 6 months or more, or donor members who have paid and not got their donor status re-instated. I do not see why I owe an apology to anyone for saying so.
As for HCB, in many ways, he is what photography means to me. To me, he is like god. No, I did not know him as a person, so cannot tell you whether he would or would not approve of my attitude; I am not much interested in him as a person, but more in his work. I love the way he taught us to see the "moment" and the way he was fascinated by the use of geometry in compositions. If you want to know more, I do suggest you watch a documentary on him by Heinz Bütler. It is called 'Henri Cartier-Bresson: The Impassioned Eye', and it is available in Netflix (if you are a member).
