About Augmenting the series "natural shapes" with this one. And it is much harder than most people would imagien to get such an image right. It somehow doesn't really look as "natural" but what can be done better? Any hints would be very welcome.

Thanks a lot again, Dave!

Such formations never exhibit this kind of "violent" contrasts in nature. You can see that especially on the small black dots, which were just some different kind/age of the fungus colonies there. They are never as "square" and as with such strong contours from their surroundings... This one needs refinement anyway, but I am not sure how to accomplish that.

Cheers!

Don't tell me "You have to have an eye for it", Ben! Everybody has the eye, that's piece of cake! to translate the impression into a good image... well, this is the hard part of it and for that you need knowledge, as long as the camera would not guess what you see ans as long as there is no direct firewire connection between our minds and its circuitry.

The image has problems. I hoped I would get some critique instead of the usual fanfares.

I like the texture you've captured, Nick, as well as the colours of the stone. I'm not sure if it could be any more "natural"!
Dave.

You have to have an eye for it. These colours are great.A bit like a painting.

Best regards Ben van der Sande;)
