1- it's very well balanced, keep it as it is
2.- No, again compo is very good and DOF is perfect, not always a shallow DOF works
feel that both pictures are really good but take care with your editing :)

You are right that the detailing is poor in this shot and I tell you thats not because of the convertion, I guess its due to my poor editing skill :(
I have two more doubts to disturb you :P
1. Do you think this composition is bit tight at the left (monitor view)? Should I crop it from the right to bring a balance?
2. This is about today's upload. Do you think that the frame is incomplete as the lower portion of the kid is not there and would the shallow dof be better for that composition?

interesting as always, like how the two faces match and how both are looking at the camera; level of detail is a bit poor though mainly in womans face bit it can be due to jpg conversion
anyway you have a terrific eye for street shots dear friend
