About
As part of the Monarch butterfly migration, a winter stop over in Santa Barbara occurs every year. These butterflies will be in the trees here until early February when they will continue the migration north. They huddle in masses at night and when it warms up, they will fly around and eat the leaves of the trees.
Thanks for viewing Riny. This is just one cluster of many in the surrounding trees. When the butterflies take to the air, all the motion is almost dizzying. Darryl
