About You ever have one of those pictures that keeps drawing you to it? Well this was one of those pictures. When I would look at the pictures from this shoot, my eyes were always drawn towards this shot but as I worked on it I noticed that because there is no separation between her arms and body, it looks like she has no arms. I don't know, maybe it's just me being too critical. I couldn't even think of a title for the picture.

The way she sits on the chair is very seductive.

Maybe having her arms at her sides is what made the shot attracted to me too Keith. I'm pretty happy with everything else about the shot and I didn't even notices the "no arms" situation until I started editing the picture. And I was shooting in pretty tight quarters.

Thanks for your input Jan. When I have access to a studio or when I am able to use my home studio, I do place the subject 3 to 4 feet away from the background and usually have 2 or 3 lights. In this case, there wasn't much space so I basically was just using 1 hot light, about 3200 K, which was about 4 feet in front of her. In this shot I tried to get the light directly in front of her for minimal shadow. I did try bouncing it off the ceiling but didn't like it. Next time I will try my on camera flash with a diffuser and see how that looks.

I agree with being a bit close to the wall but that depends on how much room you have to work with and what effect you are after. As for the arms, id like to see part of them at least to show they are there. What having them out of the way has done is show the shape of this very beautiful model. That caught my eye. Was different.:)

Hi clay, you ask us.
For me I think it would be better to see the arms. Important cause she is to close to the wall. The shadow on the wall cuts the body, thats reason she looks a bit armless. Also you see the grain of the wall and the reflex of a front flash.
Try to take the chair two meters away fromm the waal.
Dampen the flash with diffusor or use light indirect againt the ceiling.
Hope you show the results
She is a good model and you are able to get more out of a session
