About This is a canoe slalom course in Wales on the river Teifi. I know the colours are quite saturated, it was near mid day, but it was the only time I could get out here for the shot.

Hi Lisa, thanks for the comments.
The lines running above are indeed part of the course, they hold up the vertical poles you can see, for the canoists to go through.
I would have loved to get someone canoing down, we waited for a while but none came, so I shot it like this.

OK, I attached a shot of mine below. I don't think it portrays well what I wanted, but it'll give the idea. I wanted to feature the "Jesus Saves" and show a kayaker going by in death's gripes (so the slogan would be very appropriate, like a kayaker's prayer).... as well as a bit of a long shot to set the scenery. BUT... the kayaker never got quite close enough to play it up right for one thing. I'll quote photographer Galen Rowell and say you need to envision the photo you want... and then make it happen

Hi Sarah! I know you've been asking for comments on your stuff, so let me give my opinion here. You're doing good stuff, but try expanding "outside the box" a little. If you're titling it "Canoe Slalom," how about getting canoes running the course? That would be what makes this special, I'm guessing. Or maybe you're trying to show something else that's special here that I don't get? I'm thinking back to the river shot where you mostly saw a big piece of concrete. Think what you subject really is and make sure it's your focal point. Also, just as a matter of personal taste here, I don't like all the power lines, etc. Or maybe those lines across the water have something to do with the course?
