More than anything I wanted to say that I like your comments about photography. I have tried to explain to non-photographers about passion;a way of seeing the world; viewing through spiritual eyes, etc. And they look at me like I'm on drugs. Thanks again for your words ... and pictures of course.

Thanks Dario (Puente) for your comment.
I love very much also this yellow-brown light I could catch. Only about thing I have a different feeling in this Pic: the light. It's extremely soft, peacefull and relaxing, so that if I didn't know about the meaning of a such a place, I could find this place quiete and warm.

It is so frightening to imagine what those iron gates or that redish soil have witnessed. So terrifying to think what crossing through that gate or reading those words ment for people not so long ago. The yellow light sets the mood perfectly and the square cropping makes the pic more dramatic.

Hi Arrey, Reynaldo, Dario, Sue and Barry.
Thanks for your comments, I just read them today. Yeah, this is a Concentration Camp (KZ Lager is the german abbreviation for "Konzentration Lager", you are right Sue). It is in Oranienburg, a little "dorf" (village) directly connected with the centre of Berlin, by the "S-Bahn 1" (one of the 25 underground lines in Berlin), so just half an hour from the centre. It's a suggestive place, as I already wrote, empty of people today (there are rarely many visitors) and with a strong athmosphere all around: there are just few old grey houses on the main street to the Lager, but of course people lived there also at the nazi times.
No, I didn't use any filters, at all, I was just lucky, because I catched a perfect sunset light (about at 16.00 in autumn). After the defeat Hitler ordered the "death marches" to move jews somewhere, where nobody could find them. But at the end many of them were leaf here, and they were freed by the sovietic army. It's just a shame that after the war this KZ Lager (in the east part of Berlin) was used at their turn by the Soviets to keep war prisoners inside (till the 50s).
So, I hope I answered all questions and sorry if I wrote a "poem", but when I speack about history I could speack endless.

I never dreamt of seeing things the way Barry sees them. But this time. Barry you are right. Well maybe because that is alos history.

Sue is right. This is really sad.

And Katia has really done a perfect work. using such pale colour to really express that sadness of this " Lager".

I wish we mankind could give the jews, the respect and love they deserve.

Arbeit Macht Frei was a sardonic greeting for unsuspecting Jews entering concentration camps. It means, "Work will set you free".

Dario, a quick search of Google confirms "KZlager" is an abbreviation of "Konzentrationslager" or "concentration camp", although I couldn't find this site specifically.

I hope there is never such wickedness again in the world, but we know that, for the moment, it has not been the case.

I was teasing Arrey before about his picture having a "sad" tone, but this is truly sad.

Sue

>Well, please,translate to me: Arbeit - Work, Macht - >Makes, Frei-Free ?

Seems to be a concentration camp. In Germany. Bassed on the info of the picture and the translation of the sign.

Katia, Hi.
Very nice.
Well, please,translate to me: Arbeit - Work, Macht - Makes, Frei-Free ?
What place is this? Abandoned factory, a public square?
Brown floor, brown trees. Any filter or is it so brown?
Sorry for my questions, while I learn techniques I travel in those pictures. I love to know what exists outsid my country, what people love, hate, read, cry for. It is beautiful this world of pictures.
Nice work.
