A very graphic presentation with sharp tonal contrasts that really punches out to the viewer.

I agree with Jonathan (warped minds think alike!)... It is OK to isolate a flower against a darkened background, but not a wonderful structure such as this??? I think it is the perfect treatment, brilliantly executed, Debra. A wonderful study of line, texture and tone... Now that being said, I must get picky (of course) ;-) This could use just a bit more touching up to complete the effect, in my opinion. Since you are going with the darkened background, go all the way. In PS, select the background and then darken it further with levels adjustment ot just going over it with the burn tool to darken it all down evenly (set the burn tool to shadows). The top right area just above the lighthouse especially needs some darkening down, in fact, give a try to just sweeping over that whole small area (including that portion of the roof)with the burn tool set to shadows - but be careful - no more than probably 20% brush opacity? And always work on a duplicate layer... Let me know if you need any more info... I applaud your experimentation, Debra, and your results just keep getting better and better. Keep at it!

I like the dark sky.... why does everything have to fit neatly into people's expectations? Great image!

Excellent composition...although dark sky is unnatural...darknes by a polaryzing filter and/or
heavy burning is better that cloudless bringt white sky that hurts the eyes. I like the overall effect. Very nice work.

I am very happy you choose to try your hand at something other than portraiture. I love the dark sky and how the contrast jumps out at you. I love strong composition and the way the sun is casting shadows on the lit building. Debra, keep on shooting out side you are good here too.

Deb, I don't understand why the sky would be black at 12 noon, but I do like the effect it has on this picture. I like the composition and lighting. Beautiful Image.
