I feel that this is the better of the two portraits. The pose and lovely expression are both very attractive here and at first look really carry the shot. Upon closer inspection (once you get past that intoxicating smile) the softness begins to wear just a bit (perhaps too soft overall in key areas) and you start to notice that the colors, while close, are just different enough to start to coflict some. Ah, but then the smile takes over and shucks, who CARES about the colors!

In the end, the close crop works very well and that smile...first rate. This is very flattering for this attractive Cowgirl.

Suggestions: The background is causing most of the problem here as far as the color scheme. Maybe darker would be enough? Or PS a western scene like a sunset which would be blurred. The shirt, lovely but a real "cowgirl" shirt with collar and buttons might give a real Cowgirl look to this.

Now I've gone and done it. Just had to see "what if..." The shirt color change was just to bring out the color of her eyes more. Don't know if it's better, just different. The background is Bryce Canyon. Can't you tell? ;-) Now all we need is the smell of a campfire and Roy Rogers singing... ;-)

I like it Verna. Love the pose, great lighting. I do feel there is a little too much blur though. I think the background is great but with the blurring it makes it blend a bit too much with the subject. Beautiful girl.

The background color is too close to the color of her clothing, in conjuction the blurring creates a field of pink and you lose the definition of your subject. The lighting seems really good, and the idea of the blur is good, but why not try a color that is a little cooler in the background to better set up the subject?

Lovely model and very nice lighting. Great smile. I like the way you have softened the image. Don.
