Dear Ursula, strange how many people are reacting and commenting so DIFFERENTLY. ha ha crazy world. crazy people. ;-) Very funny. very amusing. SO you can see. Your photo is perfect for some and unperfect for others. I think that I have the same problem as you have. Or maybe I am just so wrong. ha ha. so wrong or so right. I think I am so right with your photo. Cause I like it, but something is missing as you said.

I wish you try different angle and angles of lighting! Cause I am kind of "without Idea" for this feather. Almost perfect but still missing something. THE POINT!

Oh Dear Friend. It seems that you are having the same problems as I had when I was dealing with Feathers. Strange notion I had, it is not so easy to shoot MACRO feather. I mean close-up. I think because we want to show the feather itself and by close-up. On your photo, the left upper dark line in the corner is just very disturbing. you have to remove that. The light is not appropriate, I mean wrong angle. The feather itself, you have captured it very well,I can see all the tiny lines, beautiful and fragile, just like the feather is. but the shadow in front is like menacing me. so big. so dark. comparing with the fragility and light of the feather,the shadow in the first plane is disturbing me. It is almost the whole feather, but it is not. SO what shall it Be? a detail or a feather, that disturbe me for saying that this is suppose to be a GOOD SHOOT. Anyway, it is pleasent for the Eye, but definitely something is missing to be more beautiful. to be more expressive. I have one that is almost like yours. I wasnot satisfied.

Ursula; I like this version as much as your II version. The detail in the feather, and the shadows and light areas are excellent. It may be that because the feather is (more or less) horizonal and parallel with the upper frame line, it is just a bit static (though I still like this very much and the lighting adds much drama). You might try a composition with the feather on somewhat of a diagonal? BTW, you have an excellent and very interesting looking portfolio. I'll try to get back to it-- so many images-- so little time? Cheers. Craig

The feather is fabulous - light and ethereal - I think the heaviness of the shadow takes away from the feather and perhaps that is why you are not happy with it...
