As to reply to your question : I cannot see any major noise in this photo. There is a slight wide-angle distorsion, but it's minimal really, and anyway it's not your fault but the camera's . Notice anyway that almost all-wide angles, even high - end ones have this problem. When you are taking pictures of sunsets,in my opinion, especially in digital,it would be wise to shoot several frames at short intervals as the light changes dramatically from an instant to another which can result ( at a certain light - temperature ) in an unwanted red cast which involves not only the reflections of the sun - rays, but also the nearby silhouettes. It goes without saying that the flash must be off and therefore you're supposed to hold your camera firmy or better use a tripod in order to avoid the soft focus I can see.
Also, the rasons for your disappointment IMO can be two : one is the resizing that occurs when you upload the photo on the site which causes a little bit of quality loss.
Secondly,to me MOST important, is the difference between the persons who have an LCD monitor or a cathodic tube one and the video card on your pc. I've been sometimes criticized myself that the colours of my pics are washed out and need more sharpness, although to me they seem alright. I have an LCD monitor and everything to me looks brighter. In order to avoid this problem I have to burst quite a bit of contrast and unsharp mask ( but after this job to my eyes they seem unnatural ).
Feel free to email me at "antonella.nistri2@tin.it" if you feel that I could be of any help.
BTW,I found another photo on your portfolio which is very similar to one I took here in Florence, sometimes I'll post it. Incredible!!!! All my best, Antonella

Great picture and very well composed. The lights are beautiful and warm, the buildings on the right are lovely silhouettes as they should be. Cheers, Antonella
