Great perspective, excellent composition.. Could be just a little bit darker... I like the play of vertical coloumns and horizontal lines on the floor...

Nice composition and perspective, wish it was sharper.

Strong composition; good angle; light is a bit harsh and gives some overexposure.

This is a wonderful shot, Jaap! The enormous columns are so imposing, especially in contrast to the tiny figure of the man. The effect is made stronger by the angle, which makes it look as though they are all bunched together. The little accent of yellow really makes a great focal point. The highlights are just a little 'hot' on my screen, but not enough to really be a problem. Great photo!

Hello Jaap,
This is a wonderful image. I have one almost just like it from 1978, but it is not successful like yours - mine is too monochromatic. Your small bit of bright yellow adds color and scale to the maganificent Bernini columns. Also, the rain adds character to the photo by the highlights on the stone pathway. As far as the color and texture of the columns themselves, this is the way I remember them.

Jaap, I think is one of your best architecture/abstract compositions. The sense of enormity and solidity of the columns is very well conveyed. The touch of color in the umbrella is excellent. And the reflections on the slick paving stones are beautiful too. Some people will quibble about some of the columns being slightly washed out but sometimes we can't have it all.
