che dire? è la foto più bella in assoluto che ho visto oggi tra le tante di usefilm! una foto così di uno sguardo così non può che rimanermi stampata negli occhi per un pò

Hi Sandy,
I thought I would have a look at some of your work after your kind comment about by first uploaded image, thank you by the way.
This picture just jumped out at me, I love this sort of work. Nice crop and a well captured moment in time. I wouldn't worry too much about a spot on the nose or a line on the wall as I don't think you was trying to capture an image resembling a controlled studio portrait. Well done.
Take care,
Karl Risely

Very dramatic portrait. The left eye being completely in the dark makes it disturbingly mysterious. I'm with Richard in that I don't care for the black line in the background. May be dodge that part? And touch up the couple of spots (dust is it?) others have mentioned. I like the off-center crop but might be tempted to try a tighter crop as an alternative take on this.

there's a fearful edge covered by the clean looking cloth - that contrast alone is strong enough to hit me in the guts with force - very strong Sandy

hallo sandy, a great travel photo and you just made it to keep the contrast in check. i feel it would win into a 7/7 by cropping into portrait and thus eliminating the shadow of the background wall. mind to give it a try?
best regards

Oooops, I see now, I mean "you are a sensitive person" and "her face tells me a story"! I was very tired when I wrote the comment, sorry... Thanks for explaining your thought and sensations. Bye Max

i feel this urge to capture a moment in time within someone .
a flick of something that is hidden deep...
but really not so deep...

perhaps i mean the natural state of a being..and their reaction..

unconditioned response if you will...
once a stimulus is added uncomfortably i find it almost unbearable to photo someone..
tense and akward,
very few people i have met can pull of a staged photo setting...
strange grimace stretched faces...

i mean i suppose that is why it would be nice to work with a model...
but it just is not as interesting to me...
but i should try sometime..
thanks everyone...

:)

hope your sunday is a nice one that makes you smile...

You are not only a creative photographer, but you have also a sensitive person and this helps you to get meaningful and moving images like this, really his face tells me a story ... Maybe there are some flaws, but they are nothing in comparison with the strength of this portrait. Bye Max

Very impressive result turns out indeed! Oh, I just realize what happens to his body at lower left conner? It seems missing to me? Excellent portrat with great expressions on the face Sandy!

A good informal portrait. I think a little more dof would help. The shallow dof is hard to understand because the image was made in full sunlight.

A nice and pretty different portrait Sandy. When a portrait isn't a common one, it disserve! Very nice!

thank you for your comments..
:)
yes richard i notice the spot on her nose..i shoulda done away with it..
hmm...
i think that the black and white would not be as dramatic but i bet you will prove me wrong
:) you are really good at what you do!

the crop i left as is to keep a sense of realism about the surroundings,

although i did not mention this in the descrition the photo was taken in the laundry room of where i live...
the woman has a shirt on her head..
because her hair was messy..
i thought it came out rather neat..

kind of a question of...
huh?

thanks again all i really appreciate your time in viewing..
take good care..

Hey I liked this the moment I saw it. You have captured an incredibly expressive face. I'd maybe have a play around with a tighter crop and/or a B&W version. (I'll send it when I've done one). There is probably even a bit more tonal information to be dragged out by fiddling (kissing?) the contrast curves. Still not quite happy with the dark line on the background wall. Also remove the small (but distracting) light dot just above the forehead shadow. Seeing the results you are getting from characters just around your own building, just imagine what you'd get from a spell over at Sami Said's neighbourhood... wow!

do not understand what does it mean contrast kissed...but it is a good shot, the expression of the man or children is also interesting and emotional bringing
