Hi Roger, This is a great "street Candid portrait" type shot. I think the close crop looks quite effective. The background would be out of place in a formal sitting but I doth think it matters so much here because of the "street" feel.
I must be lucky all 3 of my kids like having their photo taken. Problem with using digital is that my youngest wants to see herself on the "tv" before I have had a chance to take the shot. I have lots of out of focus shots of her walking towards me!

Roger, if it's any consolation, I don't think I have a successful photograph of my kids at all. Like you say, the camera appears and they run ;-)
I like the 'recovery' you have managed with this. Salvaging the mistakes can give some very interesting results, and you have one here.

Very effective candid. No worries about the background - it's environmental. I like the tight crop. Makes it more dynamic. What d'you mean by "my kids"?
