cool idea Bjorn, it's like you're on TV! i like self portraits where the camera is an accessory and the photographer is the subject..although i realize most of us find it distinctly uncomfortable on the other side of the lens. But in the reflection of a microwave, the image assumes a gadget look that's fun. Try one with some kitchen clutter around it, or spilled beans running out of the door or a harried Mr. Mom look, with your hair pulled out in spikes and soap suds on your hands and an apron on, haha, i don't know, something to suggest more of the everyday home atmosphere.
Regarding "At the very least", the volcano information was just to let people know where it was taken. Every volcano is different, every crater is different. Some are literally too hot to handle, some are old and extinct..i shot this straight across one filled extinct crater, (euphamistically called Playa Grande--Beautiful Beach--because it's slight bowl shape fills with water when it rains) towards the main crater (beyond the fence) which is 300 meters deep and unless i'm hanging over the edge shooting it, you would not see from this or any other angle. What i tried to do Bjorn was instead of showing a big dramatic crater, through use of the Channel Mixer i deliberately painted the scene with a very muted gray palette, except for the bright flowers, in order to suggest the barren, almost alien atmosphere that exists there. You must be a literal thinker which is why you need to have clearer definition in the visual representation. i could show the crater but instead, i wanted the viewer to imagine what it's like on top of a volcano. For you, and just for you, i will upload a view of the crater this morning :))) kat~
