About The camera meter said 10", but I chose 30" instead. This is from my first roll that I have developed myself:). This was taken outside the Mechanical Engineering building at the University of Arizona.

Gorgeous. You have managed to make art and a statement out of an otherwise mundane topic. Great composition. Congrats and keep them coming.

18! Wow this is such a poetic composition. Your developement was excellent. Do you have any idea what kind of inspiration this image would be to a lyricist? Keep it up.

thanks much for the encouragement guys; makes me want to keep posting here:)

i shot 18 more night shots tonight, haha. 12 of one subject though...different times and apertures...i can't believe how patient i was (after i threw a fit and kicked the air on a couple shots) ;)

John,

Only 18, heck I have underwear older than that! And you are doing shots like this. Son you make me very envious. You are taking your photography to a new level with your own developing and experimiting. Man keep it up. You know the guitar players from Lynard Skynard had to collect pop bottles just to buy guitar strings. Do what ever you have to do to keep buying film. By the way I like your choice of film here, I have 20 rolls in the fridge yet to be used.
Later my friend,

Russ

Nice shot John. I am more impressed with the fact that you developed this yourself. You have a good eye, sounds like a strong desire and in time hopefully an automobile to get you out and around!! At only 18 years old, there is much you can accomplish. Keep it alive!

thank you all very much. matt, the meter i used was the built in spot meter on my nikon n80 camera. i exposed for the middle tones of the tree leaves.

John--I love the way the tree looks like something Jack Frost would create. Maybe the closest you'll come to him in Phoenix?

Keep doing these night shots, they're great!

I think at 10" you'd lose the detail in the shadows. With your exposure time you were able to capture the detail in the shadows while still keeping it from being burned out by the street light.

Good job!

Also, what kind of meter do you use?
