About This is a photograph of a 16x20 print - looks like I need a bigger scanner to digitize these things. There is a little bit of human form in these recent darkroom expeditions.

Wow! This is very interesting. I see a the back of a head and maybe some wings, could be good or evil, I guess that's up to the observer, I'm gonna go with good. I don't have a clue how you did this but it's a truly amazing work of art. Congratulations, all the best, Linda

Hi Stefan, congratulations on well deserved recognition, your explorations are amazing, out there, a cut above the mainstream, the guy ? in 'Exhuberant' is a French Detective I reckon, caught in a frenzied search for something while keeping an eye on impending danger from upstage left........!! well done, most enjoyable work, cheers, david

These are awsome Stefan. Very original idea (I think). This could be a Japanese warrior to me. Very clever especially when you know how the image was image and eventially posted.
Do you exhibit them as a series?
Thanks again for your comments, always appreciated. best regards John McC.

Stefan,

I've browsed your portfolio and you have some interesting stuff but the work in this series is captivating. Exuberance is the word that came to mind before I even viewed the title. I read your description and I still don't quite understand how you did this but no mind...I am not the most technically minded person as I will explain in a minute.

You asked about the digital pinhole. You are correct it isn't really a pinhole. As I explained to someone else "You know - that is the thing, it isn't really a pinhole...I started out making a pinhole (actually three) and this one can't really be called a pinhole...the projection lens is two teeny-tiny lenses (about a centimeter in diameter) that I plugged into a body cap. The results have been a pleasant and invigorating surprise.

I have a standard pinhole bodycap and a pinhole bodycap with a negative lens behind it (experimenting with distortion)...but I don't have the right weather here to try what I want to do with them...so you have to wait before you can see them... ;)"

The description of what I did and how I came to my method is misleading. But the true problem is I tend to operate on instinct until the process becomes clear to me. For instance, as an adult math that I did well enough in school at because I followed the process will suddenly become clear to me. It is amazing the light that shines when it comes clear. :)

Some aspects of photography are very clear to me and some still just don't make sense. So when serendipity hits (as with the projection lens) I run with it.

Mary
