About 90 West Street was severely damaged on September 11th, 2001. This elegant building was designed ca. 1906 by Cass Gilbert, architect of the critically-renowned Woolworth Building within short walking distance. Framed some years ago one early evening with a long tele-zoom, the World Trade Center's Twin Towers' convergent lines were perspective-cropped/corrected using PhotoImpact just recently.

Very beautiful but also very unreal. I enjoyed it much, it is very attractive and that is all that counts. Congratulations, you are are a natural artist. Best wishes,
Alex

Beautiful composition! Lovely blue background for a wonderful old building. Very good work here!

Thank you for the suggestion regarding "Fool's Paradise (Green) #2. I thought about rotating it 90 degrees, but wanted to keep the crosses and not mess with them in Photoshop. I agree with your suggestion about the direction of the grain. Again, thank you!

Thanks again to those who commented since 12/12. One commenter preferred to see the older, smaller building take up less of the frame. In fact I do have a version of just that composition with this light. In it the point of the mansard roof greets the space between the Twin Towers. That one is not yet scanned so my showing it will have to wait a while.

Gary - a very good beginning here at UseFilm. There is a lot of good stuff in your image. Besides the contrast of old vs new buildings there is great timing at work here in that both buildings are starting to be artificially illuminated and yet the thin sliver of sky matches. Good job and keep posting. John

I am new to Usefilm and don't know how to directly respond to each of the kind commenters since I turned off the email feature (don't want to clutter the inbox).

A print of this image is the first one people see when one opens my 9x12 photo art portfolio. It is followed by a short series of recently scanned slide images now enjoying a new public life at work, at home, and now on the internet. Perhaps I will post the others in this series in the subsequent days.

Beautifully crisp and clear, wonderfully perspectively tuned, good job on straightening the convergence distortions inherent in a shot such as this. The limited palette of gold and blue is very striking. I seldom rate but this one gets all 7's from me. This would make an excellent print -- artbook quality. Welcome.

Welcome to Usefilm.com! nice photo, very interesting aspect; old house breaks the backgroundlines...

Nice contrast created with the smooth lines of the building in the foreground and the straight lines of the background. A lovely image!
