About It was a day off and I was bored! I'd bought some extension tubes and found a box of mixed seashells I used to play with as a child. I spread them out on a piece of card infront of the window and lit them with both natural light and the light from a slide projector. It was an experiment really but I'm quite happy with the result.

As always, all your comments are welcome.

OK, thanks very much for your comments everybody - they've taught me a lot. I cannot change the main picture but I have attatched to this message an updated version of the picture where I have fixed the ghosting error on the shell at the top. To do this, I mostly used the clone tool in photoshop - it's not perfect but I think I can get away with it - what do you think? Thanks again for pointing it out to me, I'm amazed I missed it given the amount of time I spent looking at it! Thanks again.

Thumbnail was lip smacking ;) until I found that the original picture was about Sea Shells. Lovely picture! I liked the patterns.

The lighting worked out really nicely; I think the orange cast is certainly appropriate to the subject matter. I didn't notice the double, either, until I read Paul's comment. If it bothers you, a 1/4 crop on the bottom right would still make a great macro; the detail on the shells is perfect and the tones are a bit cooler, too. Great shot!

The tungsten light seems to be overpowering the natural light, with an orange tone. Did that one seashell high center fall over? There seems to be a double image.

Wonderful sheashell macro, vivid lively colours, great contrast and detail. Well done. Congrats!

Hi Daniel, i really like the idea and i find the picture nice and colourful, good DOF and some interesting patterns. The bit i don't like is the little point, juuting up at the cntre left of the frame. This shell is not one of the most interesting and i would have preferred to see some sort of nice pattern or texture. These things are easy to overlook though. Top marks for the idea, the courage to try out something new. Refards from Switzerland, Neil
