About Hello!! I got a Holga recently, and decided that for the first film I wouldn't do any light insulating or other modifications and just see what happened... Think it might need a bit of insulation!

Best to tape and seal 'er up, Phil. It'll leak regardless, so might as well lessen it. At least Velcro the door so it won't leak or come off.

Holgas don't like Nikons, Phil. That's why it leaked on you. LOL. No, really I like that chance encounter with the light leak.

Hi Phil!
I have the very same light leak that you have in this image in all my color shots. Have you fixed it? If so, what is the cure? Great image btw, did you print it yourself or take it to a lab?

Amanda

Hi Kita! The Holga is a really cheap medium-format camera (takes 120 film). You can easily get one from a number of websites, try www.holgamods.com or do a web search. They are about £20 new. And yes, they are so bad that they need light insulating (unless you want the kind of light leaks seen in this photo). There is a wealth of information out there on the net; they have quite a cult following! :)

Nice to meet you, Phil.
I really like this - I've been converting some old slides for a friend and this has that same old fashioned quality.
I have to agree with Girish - would make a terrific album cover !

Well done.
Best regards, Selina

Interesting shot. Thanks for your suggestion on the city shot...I agree with the color. I unfortunately rushed that shoot. I'll be doing some B&W work over the weekend, so I'm hoping to have them up soon. I also have a few others that I'll put up in a couple of days. Thanks!

Dammit! I must be the only one who doesn't know what a Holga is (duh)! Though flawed, you have an expression worthy of a photo, so voila! ..Brad

love the holga and it's light leaks, looks like a nice exposure... have you ever ran 35mm film through your holga? i love doing that for the sproket holes. rad work.

hello again (and thanks for your comments): to answer your question: tape and untape while winding for the window ... more tipps you find at the links (holgamods, toycamera) at my website under "Holga 2004" - btw the new "starter kit" of Holga comes with tape :)

well, you need some more practice with that thing. that apart, I think this image on its own is very nice. It could make a CD cover! Its like, a world behind a screen, deep inside like the entry point of another world, you know? a world inside, frozen in time . . . something like that, a mistry. I like it in that sense. Or a blast from the past perhaps . . .

Andreas Wolkerstorfer   {K:5090} 2/10/2004
you are right - the middle light leak comes from the red filmcounterwindow, the upper leak from (un)loading the film. Your Holga was not happy to see a Nikon hanging on your neck :)
