i think the light background adds street genuineness to the image. i like what i am seeing here. the person quietly reading somewhere on a nameless street. peaceful and immersed in a different world.

I think the photo is perfect as it is. Maybe in a beer advertisment the hot light would be distracting, but art is to be savored like good cognac. The light draws you to the backround and its somewhat interesting features then to the prise that waits in the shadow. Simple duality, unmolested beauty. Procedure is the enemy of originality.

Good subject. Suggest a tighter crop since the hot background at top distracts and does not add to the image's impact.
