Fedait-ha! I wish we still do wear the burqu though, I feel very touched seeing those who still do. It just transfers me to another time with a different sensation, a purer one indeed. It hurt sometimes thinking how rare, how few are our elderly and how fast they departure.....Allah y7fa'6hom
I think a photograph that is able to convey feelings and stimulate thoughts is an excellent one indeed! Good Luck, I wish you all the best Inshallah

Had no idea the burqus came in such wonderful colors! (Thought they were all black.) This is a very interesting picture... I'm glad you enetred the contest with it... hope you win... if not, you have won my admiration, anyway.
The more I'm looking in the pic, the more I'm noticing great details: the heanna tattoos on her hands, her ethnic jewelry... her gorgeous black eyelashes (good eyeliner!)... also love the thatched texture in the background... that alone would qualify as a great abstract, honey! If there's anything I object to in the pic that is the white thingy at the RHS. But it's part of the pic, so it stays there.

Beautiful capture Rawabi....why the hands are not as sharp as the face? i think it is a result of movement??

lol.. I cracked up when I read "the golden mask" Barbara! lol .. yeah it's kinda uncomfortable especially in the heat.. thank God our generation don't have to wear this "golden mask" or burqu'... mostly all girls just cover their hair but some cover their face using a peice of cloth (like Saudi women).. but that's personal choice..
The burqu is made by a special, kinda hard, peice of cloth that is supported with a stick in the middle (some use ice cream sticks! lol) .. it's usually golden/ brownish when it's new, which is wore for special occasions or family visits.. a kinda darker, bit older ones are worn for normal outings to not attract much attention..
Carolyn, it's Henna on her hands.. and a bit of purple dye.. this is used while making a burqu.. and honestly I donno why!!! lol

A very good portrait, Rawabi! Just feeling a little bit uncomfortable with this image, thinking if were I wearing such a cloth, with this golden "mask"... But I know you don't need to cover your face anymore, just your hair...

Khalid, i TOTALLY agree with you about the white distructive area.. wanted to do something about it but cannot manipulate it for the contest.. this is what I get when I don't pay enough attention to the background! :-s
