The 21mm lens was wrong for this shot, but its great resolution and Fuji's fine-grain 400 ISO emulsion let me get away with a fierce crop. I prefer statues to people because they hold still and don't complain...
Roger this is a nice statue and at least the wall behind would be a nice (OOF)background. The way it looks now there is IMO too much space around the ladies with disturbing details. Hmm, how did that friendly "master" speak at the LUG leately ? "What the hell are you doing here ??!! Concentrate !!!!" :-)) Think you know me good enuff to allow me a joke like this. All the best, Bertram
Hi Roger, Happy Monday! A nicely taken photo, wth all the straight lines straight! Nice statues, it's just a shame about the surroundings. Kind regards, Chris P.S. Regarding your question re. my cathedral silhouette. It's a fair question, Roger, and one that I have no qualms in answering. Where possible I like to present photo's more or less as they come out of the camera, (with a little help from PS in sorting out levels and saturation), but there are also occasions when I see potential in an image that can only be fulfilled by pairing it with another image. Such is the case here. I had a reasonable silhouette of the cathedral, but a completely nondescript sky behind it, so I decided to pair it with a more dramatic one. It then, in my opinion, becomes a work of 'photoart' ~ that is, art produced with the help of photo's. From people's comments, it appears that some have assumed this was a straightforward photo but, (whether they have or not), that they have all enjoyed the end result. If I alter a photo significantly, I will always tick the 'photoart' option in an attempt to make it clear that the image is some kind of composite. I hope this answers your question. Thanks for asking. Kind regards, Chris. P.P.S. If I had taken this photo, I may well have lifted the statues out of their background and found somewhere more aesthetically pleasing to place them, so that others might more appreciate the statues for thei own beauty rather than by put off by the rather bland and busy nature of their background.
The cropping is just perfect, everything is in focus and the frame is excellent and yes,it's so sharp you can't beleieve it,beautiful,Roger!!! Antonella
