I agree that the contrast is too much, but having shot birds in the nest before, I know that you are lucky to get anything, so you take the light you are given. The main problem is the blown out lower and upper left corners. Maybe some subtle burning there would tone the contrast down?

I should add that I like the naturalistic view. Sweet shot.

Too bad you can't just take the birds out and put them into a different less distracting setting! Love the birds!!!
