City - Varanasi State - UTTAR PRADESH Country - India
About
There is quite alot I think going on in this picture. The cows often eat the wall posters because of the flour water glue used, the romantic poster was pobably going to go next. Many of you would know of the existance of India's Sacred or Holy Cows. It is only when one goes there that one appreciates them for what they are and for. Actually they all have owners, they arn't really free roaming wild cattle at all, although they get alot of street space in most town and cities. Milk is a luxury in India, so these cows provide this much sort after product. When I was first in Varanasi, in 1993, I made this picture had it processed and being impressed went out on the next day, my last in the sacred city, and shot almost a whole 36 film just of Sacred Cows. I was never to see this film since on the Varanasi to Agra Express train half the car was robbed it appeared during the night by thieves. My old Nikkormatt FT3 was part of their booty!
