OK, I was being a curmudgeon. Speak in haste, repent at leisure, they say.
I do think there is a tendency to over-praise here. Heck, I like it myself, when I get a 7, so I shouldn't complain. But I think even cranky criticism can be helpful.
I think in my comment I was reflecting on how easy it can be to achieve all sorts of effects, with basic photo editing programs. There's nothing wrong with "easy", but sometimes I get cranky about such manipulation, and I wonder whether it would be better to concentrate on making better un-manipulated images first. Whatever. I guess I'm starting to blather.
Daniel; Thanks for the comments. I appreciate youre honesty, if every-one liked everythig all the time( or atleast sayed they did) nothing would ever stand out. Sincere thanks Ray. ps. No worreys, im a bastard my-self.
So there's a tree superimposed, like a double-exposure, and the "noise" gives the photo an ethereal effect. The greeny tone and the antiquey books cabinetry and statuettes add to the "gothic" atmosphere. But is there something contrived about all of this? I guess I'm prejudiced against using gimmicks to achieve effects. (I don't mean to be harsh. Just an SOB, I guess.)
