I prefer your sentiment to the other one attached to this title in another place on usefilm. As for the photo, it is clear and vivid. But it seems tilted to the right. Is it? Or is the church in the background sagging to the right? This place looks like a good spot for a photographer, plenty of opportunities, I'd guess. I think the Brits, by the way, having lived through wars on their on ground, probably have a better sense of what war is really about than we do in the USA. I generalize when I say it is always bad, unless you own stock in Halliburton;-)

Oh my, you can even stir up controversy here. Forget the subject matter, I love old markers and graves. My parents and both grandparents are in a frontier rural Kansas cemetery (read cow pasture) with stones back to mid 1800's. Love to roam around there so I like your pic. Del

Good shot Gabrielle with good focal length. The shot is really emotional, very sad I can say.

oh yeah---and Edwin Starr sings:
"Friend only to the undertaker..."

And that brings up a whole new series of thoughts. (See, I am taking an economics class now...kekekek)
Stimulation of capitalism.. Small business (undertakers) and body bag manufacturers. And the guys what make bullets. And the women what make bandages...oh boy...an entire cottage industry thingy going on.
"War!! What is it good for?? Absolutely NOTHING!!...listen to me!!..."
Damn---I love music....(may be essay material there...)

Well---let me see
1. Freed the slaves.
2. Stopped the Holocaust from continuing
3. Paid for my son's college
4. Gave America its freedom (from Brits, I do believe)
5. Saved Mexico from the French in the 1860's
6. Stopped German aggression in the 19-teens (WWI)
...I am sure I can find more good examples. Sure, it is brutal and bloody, hell...it is war. But to say it is ALWAYS bad? Or useless? ...I don't believe generalizing on ANY subject is a very good policy...
Edwin Starr. Oh? It's NOT a music trivia question???
(although...Jackie Chan does a good version in Rush Hour)

Lovely statement - I agree, "WAR!! What is it good for?"
