City - North Fitzroy State - VICTORIA Country - Australia
About
Taken just after sunset on a clear evening and note the Moon at the left of the building, the tower has been lit by an interior light source. Victorian era "wedding cake" architecture is common in Melbourne's inner city suburbs. This was once a post office, until the federal government about 12 years ago decided to sell off all the old post offices nation wide, interestingly here the Elizabeth II Regal badge has been retained on this former post office come residence / cafe. In late 1989 I approached Australia Post to see if it was possible to rent the top floor of this building, they said it wasn't possible, but I did get to have a look up stairs. At that time it hadn't been lived in since the 1950s or earlier.
