About Shot at (you guessed it) Lighthouse Park while waiting for the sunset. I liked the relationship between hard rocks and soft flowing water. I've tried to desat this a little to take the purple hue off the rocks, even though the purple hue was visible to the naked eye that evening.

Lighthouse park was one of those places that you want to keep coming back to. I think of it years later! Nevertheless, a challenge to recreate the moment with a camera. Interesting idea, almost abstract. Strange lighting.

Awesome image for all the reasons noted by previous commenters. The purple cast does not detract at all, but the best part is the contrast between the razor sharp rocks and the flowing water.

I have never successfully made a shot like this, but am inspired by this image!

kim, i like the purple hues. they balance very well with the orange rocks. my favorite part tho, is the misty look of the water. doesn't look like water anymore. feels like untraviolet fog creeping up the rocks. this is exacerbated by the bluish bits of mist further up the rocks.

so clean and balanced. very impressive! specially at 5s exposure. very well executed and wonderful photo!!! this must be a very magical place. where is lighthouse park anyways? i gotta add this place to "the list".

take care,
tom

Dear Kim, this is a fantastic composition. I also like the "hard" rocks combined with ths softness. Congratulation it's a great work.

Quite useful for me, and I confirmed to buy D70 after reading this.

really nice and surreal, seems more like a painting than a photograph

Another gorgeous one, Kim! I have to agree with Hugo on how complementary the purple and gold are in these shots - really luxurious! I get the impression here of the softness in the water 'coaxing' the harsh rocks to soften and melt into it, slowly and gently overtaking it (or maybe it's just the glass of Shiraz talking :) What can I say? Beautifully captured!

Kim, what a stunningly intriguing image. I find purple hue very complementing to the orange shades on the rocks. Very well balanced image. The water has a smokey touch, adding a quite unusual and a bit of a mystical element to the photo. Very well captured. Reminds me of a blacklight effect.

Cheers,

Hugo

Now I know I don't have better slides than you! But I have found that the digital camera wall photos are turning out better and better. One of the camera guys at my work also mentioned that shooting the slide projector into a mirror will help to create more illuminous digital captures. Can't wait to try that!

Beautiful - looks like a cloud layer. What are those blues coming from anyway?! You are doing a better job than me converting your slides. Or maybe you just have better quality slides to begin with :-)
