Excellent details and dof, and such original and interesting butterfly! I thought first that the colours of the butterfly were inverted or something, but obviously not! :-))

Don't know what I did to earn this, Dan...but I am honored to be recognized by one of UF's Grand Masters! I think the colors look very natural. I've seen the density of these blossoms, which are almost like a velvety black. Your "cooldown" method on the butterfly proved to be very effective, and I would be soooo happy if I could be as successful as you were with this! Outstanding composition, friend-o-mine. ....Brad

Hadn't seen this one yet, Dan, but the composition is perfect. This is what I wanted to get at..... (I'm always a bit cautious cropping others' photos) And apart from the purplish blots on top, I think the still present contrast and gradients in the background create a more natural atmosphere than in the telephoto lens version. Great shot, with a very high level of details in both the butterfly as well as in the violet.

Cheers,

Hugo

Great one, Dan. I love the soft green blur in the background, which makes the perfect backdrop for the yellows, pinks, blues and purples of the flower and butterfly. That 50mm f/1.8 is a nice little lens, especially for the price. Lou
