This is second in a series of photo abstracts i am posting of the same building which i came across during an outing in a rural area in western WA....this one has an edge erode effect to increase rough texture,i darkened sky,and then used a blue soft lighting; all done in Paint Pro8...let me know what you think and if you prefer one over the other (only 2 are posted thus far) Thanks!
wow gayle! talk about blue! i guess you weren't kidding ;^) i have to tell you, i love blue as well. nothing more beautiful than a nice, deep, polarized sky. you captured a nice one here. you can lose yourself in there.
i normally try not to alter photos too much but i like what you've done here. the monochromatic blue offsets the red bricked-in window. i think the "edge erode" definitely helped the texture come out. however, it put a very "hard" edge on the roofline. i wonder if you would've gotten a cleaner roofline and improved the texture by simply jacking up the contrast a bit? although, come to think of it, it would probably throw off the balance between the two blues.

hi,Neil...thanks for looking at my latest little series...i don't know how to cut/paste a sky,but only used the fill tool which adds degree of opacity of a chosen color...i noticed roof edge,but it is that way on orig.,too,except not as noticeable since lighter blue sky...maybe i should have painted jagged line black,or dark blue?...appreciate the input always...your friend,gayle
Hi Gayle, i prefer the other one. It looks like you "cut and paste" the sky, this is because of the white line on the edge of the roof. I think the other one looks more natural. Nice experiment though. Keep them coming. Best wishes, Neil
