I think this shot is one of your best. I like the softness and the way subject blends in to the background. To me facial expresion and the lines of folded hands add a lot of interest. Young girls hair also adds an element of contrast. It also leads the viewer to question expresion something seperates this type of picture from the rest. I'm probably leaning against an open door here.

Dan , this is a spectacular shot! I do however have to agree with one yellow blur covering a portion of her hair. It is distracting to the eye. Other than that, this was taken by a professional who know what he's doing. Beautiful shot. Beautiful girl.

Beautiful little girl, georgeous spring day, field of flowers....what's not to like with a photo like this!
Very, very nice pose and expression by the beautiful little girl (yours, Dan??) Great use of depth of field to frame her in the yellow glow of the flowers.
The only thing that bothers me a little is the out-of-focus flowers on the left that are blocking a little bit of her hair. I put my thumb over this small area and liked the way it looked better. You probably could use the clone stamp tool on this.
Best regards, SteveR

Tough light conditions, but you managed to take such lovely photo! Excellent focus, and so sweet expression and feeling when she is in there among all these beautiful yellow flowers. I really like the unfocused flowers in the foreground together with focus and shallow dof!

The shallow Dof and the blurred flowers look really great here. What a wonderful capture! The little girl is cute and adorable, her smile is priceless. You captured a splendid expression on her face and in her lovely dark eyes. The light looks perfect to me cause it is beautifully natural. Superb capture, very good title Regards - Emgy

Lori, I thought about the reflector but didnt have one handy. We were traveling and had stopped the car on the side of the road when I spotted this huge field of yellow flowers.I grabbed my camera and we took some candid shots ,this is one.

Very sweet shot, Dan! Emotive and lovable! The focus is perfect, the framing by using the out of focus flowers is perfect. Although I always find it difficult to comment on "Anne Geddes" types of shots (atmosphere-wise, not style) as I prefer a more dramatic / graphic kind of photos, I must admit I fell for this one. Technically outstanding, especially because of the shallow DOF. Very well done!
I think Lori's and Corries comment about a reflector a good idea (wouldn't have thought about that) but I think it would create a very staged (and truely a "Anne Geddes") type of shot. I'm not sure what you're intentions where, but I like the feeling of capuring a moment that occured, instead of capturing a prefabricated moment. Hence, I think I would keep it like it is... No reflector.
Cheers,
Hugo

The combonation of a shallow dof and the yellow flowers behind her really adds a glow around her, almost like a halo. You may want to try using a reflector for casting a little more light in the shadowed area in her face. otherwise, cool stuff. corrie

Beautiful capture, I love the colors. You can use the sun/heat reflectors for your car, as a reflector that Lori sugested. I like the ones that are nylon on one side, and metalic on the other side, they work great. Danny

Hi Dan,
What an adorable little girl! She looks tickled just to be a model for you! Expression is fantastic! Something I try to do when I know I'm going to be photographing a person outside in sunlight, I use a small reflector to throw some light into the eyes. Can't use the shiny side for this, it would be too overpowering; the other side works great. Can even 'feather' it away from the subject a bit if it's too bright.
Overall a really nice portrait!
Nice work, Lori
