About This one is a bit different for me. Taken at at resort in AZ, and the original was way dark and aweful. So, I piddled with it for a few weeks on and off, and this is what I finally decided on. I'm not sure if I like it or not. Thoughts?

Hello, Kathleen! Thanks so much for your comments. This often happens to me with photos that I take.... I have a hard time settling on a final image, which is why I find usefilm so valuable.

This photo was taken on a business trip to phoenix, and unfortunatly I didn't have much time to explore anything other than the hotel grounds (where this statue was).

I am, though, returning to phoenix this next weekend where I hope to find some of that natural habitat you mentioned. I'm going to take your suggestion and try this same treatment on some more cactii of interesting shapes, and I look forward to seeing what you think about them.

Thanks again!

gosh, Blakely, i know what you mean...sometimes we like an image. it won't leave us alone. It's got defects and flaws like crazy so we try and try to make it work. i think you actually did make it work here. The tall centered cactus fading into the light is really nice and your centered composition works as well. Why not try this same treatment on a series of cactii taken in an actual desert habitat, with grasses and rock and sand strewn about in a random way, as only mother nature can arrange her landscape. i'll bet you'd turn out some fine images. Best regards: kat~

I gotta say I like what you have done here. It looks to me like an antique postcard...I don't know if that was the intent but the whole effect is very cool. K
