About This is one of those "you had to be there to appreciate it" images. The flow of the water is much too hard and too much to make this a better image. I took about 30 shots of this swan diving into the falling water, having a wonderful time - but all of the close-ups had too much whirling of the water in it. No sharpening - only cropping to size.

Linn, I agree with Lucas. Although this is an excellent photo, I find the "hard" water to be somewhat distracting. I like his suggestion and will also try it in future.

Bill, thank you for the constructive and helpful advice. I am still an amateur with only the basic camera (no extra filters) but am learning as much as possible. Hubby is now also a keen amateur photographer and hopefully we will be able to upgrade equipment some time in the future. Thank you for taking the time to view my images :-)

Nice image...I would have loved to seen a very slow shutter to blur the water..A ND filter would have allowed you to slow down the shutter yet still have the DOF field control to make the swan the main subject...Regards, Bill C.

Excellent capture and composition, Linn!
Amazing definition and details.
One thing you could have done to capture the water as a flow, would be combining one shot of the swan at high speed (as you did) with another at low speed ( say, 1/2 sec) to add a flow pattern to the water.
Best regards! ..... Lucas
