About First attempt at scanning a negative..and trying out another vintage camera I just bought. Overcast as the devil, had just stopped raining so no decent light. I liked the wet fence behind though, and how it all seemed to run parallel.

The interaction between the colours remains impresive, despite the problems with materials.

Great contrast of elements Rebecca. The soft focus renders the flowers even more delicate against the rough hewn fence. The light actually makes them glow. The velvety texture of the purple petals is quite apparent. I like it ...Christine

really like the lines in this rebecca and the softness of the purple flowers - they're beautiful - i always prefer photos of flowers after the rain - they seem to come alive more. have you thought about cropping out the right flower so to just show the left stem? just a thought. cheers, joanna

I like the composition here, and the use of the old fence in the background reinforcing the parallel lines - the recent rain added some character to the boards, too. The tops of the flowers are badly blown out, but it's interesting how it looks almost as though they are glowing from within - like light bulbs! The image looks pretty flat to me - are you using the highest possible resolution and color depth on the scanner? If the detail is there in the flower highlights, I'd say this is definitely worth another try at scanning - you've got a beautiful image here that just needs a little fiddling with!
BTW thanks for the uplifting wishes - my spirits are indeed improved by the kindness of friends! :)
