Thank you Chris :-)

By darkening the background - do you mean with a bit of help from PS? If so, then hold your breath - I am learning :-)) Hopefully soon the classes will get to layering and interesting stuff :-))

Hi Jeroen, waiting for the rose to open some more :-)

It's the same blackboard, but did not come out as dark as in other images. I didn't want to saturate or contrast too much as I didn't want to change the tones of the rose. I suppose if I go manual settings I might achieve it without any PS work :-)

Bill, we have a very good quality standard tripod, a smaller one and a tiny little one - I have never used it :-) All my images are hand-held.

Sorry to hear the Minolta is not satsifying you ... pose a question to the forum board and ask for recommendations. Also, if you see images you like a lot, check on what camera was used. You need to decide for yourself whether you want to specialise in macros, or zoom shots, or whether you want a standard digital where you can fit various lenses too.

I think if we knew then what we know now (knowing what we want from a digcam) we might have chosen something different. The Z1 (my camera) is not lens friendly, and that is my only complaint. I want a stronger macro and Robert wants a stronger zoom. Apart from that, the Z1 has given us good images for the quality and price range it is in.

Don't get anything too smart! I will be jealous!

Linn, Hope all is well. This is a very nicely captured shot! It is detailed and well centered.
The colors are just right. Was a tripod used?
I also like the way the artboard came out.
I am aching to get a better camera,as its been hit and miss with my Minolta lately. It's focus can be fickle and the menu system is quirky. Anyway,
More Dahlia pics today!
Kind regards,
Bill

Hi Linn! I just LOVE this! The rose is so perfect, really amazing light and colours but also the forms! And the black background makes it even stronger! Wonderful!

Linn,

the shape of this flower is very good. I think there would better opportunities with this one, maybe a bit closer by.

I definietly agree with a darker background, black would be my preferation.

Overal is not bad, not at all, but there's more to be found.

Wonderful light and colour, Linn!
I think I may have been tempted just to darken the background down a little ~ i.e. to make it more definitely black.
Gorgeous rose though! Good work.
Kind regards, Chris
