City - Blinman State - SOUTH AUSTRALIA Country - Australia
About
High up on the edge of the Flinders Ranges I noticed this sign while on my 4915Km Melbourne - Darwin Bicycling Trek in 2002. The Skiing Kangaroo is a common road sign in the Kosciuzsko National Park where snow falls for up to 6 months of the year, but at the edge of the South Australian Outback? Blinman is this state's highest settlement at over 600m above sea level and due to being far inland can get occassional light snowfalls every several years. Somebody had obvious celebrated the rare event by making alteration to this road sign.
Nice story Sean. Actually thought it was Kosciuscko for a minute. I thought the Japanese were the only ones mad enough to do that bike trip :) Once met a pommy pulling a cart from Cairns to Cape York.. seemed normal to talk to!
