If you notice closely you're see tiny like ribbons inside the crown. I have never seen such flowers. Again the name slips me. (gotta get that book...!!)
It seems that a few of my entries have been less then average of late and perhaps its time to try new things.
Yes, I used to get that way and then realised that I could continue to take snapshots or I could try to improve each and every time I pressed the shutter.
One cannot depend on a pretty flower to give you a pretty image. There is much more to producing a good quality image than just spotting a pretty rose or colourful daisy.
Even if I say so myself, I do have a couple of great images in my portfolio. Images that I am really very proud of. But, majority of them are mediocre and just so-so, with a couple of really poor quality ones in there too. I leave them there, because every so often I go through my portfolio and I scrutinise what I thought was worthwhile posting for the world to see. And those very poor images are there to remind me that it is more than just the camera that makes an excellent image.
I don't like flattering people just for the sake of it. If an image does not appeal to me personally, I don't comment on it, or even view it. Critiques never get me down - in fact, it spurs me on to look closer at what other people see in my images, and obviously it reminds me not to make the same mistake again.
Take a breather and re-evaluate which direction you want to go.
Really beautiful macro! Very nicely composed. Don't let the critiques get you down. Sometimes you have to take a course with your work, whether popular or not, to get to your destination. Keep at it. I'll have to take a look at more of your work as I have time.
