Dear Ned, I think that the art by the art is not useful for anything. Therefore I congratulate to show it in your photos that hidden history of the reality that very few want to see. Affectionate greetings for You.

Thank you Fadel. i can appreciate Hassan's feelings too .. but we should not deny it .. it's true!! we should not step on those people heads to stick our heads to the world and say: WE ARE A GREAT PEOPLE!
i believe that this child has the right to tell his story to the world .. by one language they all understand; such photo.

Great image and very moving! I understand Hassan's feelings, and to be honest probably I would feel the same especialy if this image was taken by a tourist. But it's true the third world is full of stories that would make very strong touching portraits.

Dear Ned, it takes courage to take a shoot of lost childhood. It takes courage not to cry in front of such an image. So, well done.I feel as if someone has woken me up.This is real life. ps.Did the child smile after this?I hope yes. With admiration, Olga.

Ahmed .. i think you can see worse than this even in the most developed countries !! at least this child is not involved in drug trade or protitution.

Thank you Linn for your kind comment. You know .. i was ashamed to look at that child eyes or take pic of him!! i had had a dinner in Iran (in the country of this this child) that this child needs to sell more than 300 of those sweepers to afford it!

Hi Ned, My hat up for you. What is more great than your your picture, is your comments:
This is a child without a childhood!! this is a stolen childhood!!
Thanks for the comment, it enriched the picture more, very well done friend.

Hi Ameed .. thank you for the kind comment.
just let me tel you that this is not a homeless child !! he has a house and family .. and he goes home to find his dinner ready. YES .. they don't have a microwave or car simply because they are pooooor!
and such a view is not only in iran as you said but even in my country, Bahrain, which has less than half a million people .. with all this OIL!! the reasons might be different but the results are much similar!
Hassan might think that i want to show a typical Iranian child!! if this is what he thinks then he's absolutely WRONG!
this is not a typical iranian child .. but such childs exist in iran and there's no reason to hide the truth. it's an obligation to show this to the world and this is the photography masseage.
This is a child without a childhood!! this is a stolen childhood!!
some oppressors and politicians have decided that this child (and millions like him all over the world) doesn't have the right to live as other children!

I like this type of street photogrpahy. well done Ned. And i dont think there is a problem to show this type of photogrpahy and i understand Hassan feelings toward it. but this is what u gona see in every back street of any third world country from latin Amercia to vitnam. and i dont see any harmful subjects which might make me laugh or chock. its just a reality presented in a respected way.

First of all this is very emotional image ,and outstanding too ,am sorry if it is hurts some persons like Hassan Farhani,'cos he is Iranian, but you can find similar in some of Arabian Gulf countries, and that?s normal no need to be upset about, and most, if he is freelance photographer he must be more easy about it. again very well done. Saeed

Ned, this is a strong image with a strong message. These scenes can be found in any country - no matter how rich or developed they are. It is images like this one of yours that sends a wake-up call to the rest of the world. I can fully understand the emotions this sight must have evoked in you - it would have done exactly the same to me.
Enjoy your trip, stay safe and capture many many wonderful moments.

Ned, i can say this is one of your best shots if not the best at all, you should've placed it under the jonalism, it is wonderful. Hassan to be honest we all know such a seen exist all over the arabian countries, maybe not in the gulf, but even this changed with Mr. Bush trying to force democracy, right? We all know it is not Iran, it is a dirty small street with a homeless kid, evey country has many, nothing shameful in that, thanks .. And Ned, keep up the good work brother .. thump uppppppppppppppppp
