Nice still life Roger, I believe raising the contrast a notch would give more impact & not sure what that dark line is on the lower left but cloning it off would make this much improved. Thanks much for the comment to my image, cheers.

Jeez you?re a wily old fox Tosh.. seeing that? its actually a light leak on the neg?when Maris loaded the double dark he only slightly opened the gap and hey presto my masterpiece was ruined!! But I don?t go jumpin off cliffs over stuff like this it?s a fatalistic attitude I carry with me, you know no matter how good we think we are physics will always be one hundred percent accurate? every action has an equal etc etc? well picked old boy

Is there a story behind the smudge at the base of the boulder. I'm reminded of some of the tones in Chris van Allsburgs pencil work.

Part of the course is a prac session down in the Noosa National Park I took about three frames from memory...none as good as this tho..Twas interseting Maris' partner Zigi was not particularly enamoured of my work but on seeing this (which was printed during the course as well) she commented that I had an interesting way of seeing the landscape

I guess these are the finalists of the SBC (stone beauty contest) !! Oh I love this race!!
Perfect photo and nice study on Zone System. Ansel Adams would be proud!! Did you actually use 2 cameras to do so? (high/low contrast?)

The detail is amazing. The tone is amazing. Makes the rocks look soft and comfortable.
And excellent choice of rocks.

Cool fun. He let you have a hold and some shots. This is wonderful Roger. Texture of sand aged glass.
