Nice capture Dan,knowing its difficult to focus.
Would be much easier with a point and shoot. Because those lenses have a lot more dof.
I did not succeed doing this, but captured 3 bees at the time ,2 inflight...lol

Tell me all about it. I tried for exactly the same image in my mind for more than a hour. Then friend got in the act as well. Did we get it in the RIGHT place - NO.
I am delighted someone succeeded and it has become the POTD image. A delightful image. Congradulations.
Regards, ken.

Brilliant shot, just perfect to get the one flower and the bee in such sharp focus, and congrats on award. Love this flower, have been taking shots of them in my garden over the weekend, but nothing like this. Margaret

Hi Dan, The distance between the bee and the flower. Excellent use of DOF to single out the subject with the harmonious / similar tones and subjects in the background. Awesome capture. A pitty the weather didn't cooperate, as the lighting seems a bit subdued. None the less a top notch shot, and a great capture.
Cheers,
Hugo

You sure nailed this little guy. I like the fact that you didn't use flash and stop the wing action. I think it is much better when bee wings and airplane propellors are motion blurred.
