Mark, I think this is good if you are into this type of artistry. It is still an interesting picture simply modified with your touch.

Gabrielle, thanks so much for your comments. Actually, I share your views to a large extent. This particular picture came out very underexposed (my biggest struggle is with getting the light right). I was messing around with it in PS and this happened! I just found it to be an interesting outcome.
I agree with you about PS. I try to just use it to adjust light or perhaps to enrich color. I see part of my progress as a photographer being measured by less and less reliance on PS to help my pictures and more on getting it right the first time.
I really appreciate your comments and I will visit the sites you mentioned.

Mark I think if you like it then it is a good thing. The variations one can make in PS are truly endless. For some people amending their image must take far more time than actually going out there and taking photos. It all depends where you, as a photographer/image maker/artist are coming from. What are your goals when you pick up your camera? What do you want to do with those images you have? I think like me you are very much finding your own niche in photography and I agree wholeheartedly about Usefilm being like a college course.
From my own perspective I think PS is an aid to photography NOT an image creator in its own right. The person who introduced me to this site and who really inspired me to develop as a photographer has very black and white views about PhotoShop (!). He is an inspired and witty guy http://www.usefilm.com/photographer/27661.html. We do disagree on many things but still somehow we manage to remain friends.
Kevin Collier http://www.usefilm.com/photographer/14835.html and Rebecca Raybon http://www.usefilm.com/photographer/30875.htmltog are truly amazing photographers whose work occasionally utilses PS.
