An original way of representing a cliched idea--the Titan Atlas supporting the world on his shoulders. The stylized Earth resembles medieval and renaissance charts of "the spheres," that is, the supposed orbs in which the stars and planets moved. There is a sociopolitical element as well in representing Atlas as a black man--whose shoulders have indeed borne the burdens of the world
