Hi Chris; a classic shot of a classic subject-- and as a bonus, you got a really nice sky.
Re: my "moody" sepia seascape, I left that vast water foreground to achieve a great sense of depth-- and thus mood with this photo-- I saw quiet, solitude, and peacefulness in this evening shot. I really do appreciate a 2nd and dissenting opinion though. Thanks, and Cheers. Craig.

I've lost any urge I might have had to retire to a thatched cottage since you told us how much they cost to re-thatch... but they certainly make a very pretty picture. The angle of the sunlight shows this one off to good advantage. Great timing, there!

LOVE IT Chris, Spectacular architecture shot. Love the frame, just makes the whole overall image.
I see from below that you added the sky, looks great! I've never done this, guess I should start collecting some skies, but we just don't have those dramatic skies here...:(
Anyway...this is wonderful!!! And I like the way the sun is just 'kissing' the roof just lightly! Lori :)

I didn't use a polariser on the sky, Don, just a gradient filter in PS7. As to the roof, fire is a very real danger, so I would imagine bonfires are out!! Kind regards, Chris

It is indeed a great old home. Well composed and a great sky. Did you use a polarizer?? Do they worry about fires on these roofs? Don.

I like it Chris for the vivid colors and good composition; it is great that there are no signs of civilisation here (cars etc) well done

To be honest, Jim? . . . . No, it wasn't! Here's the original ~ the sky was a virtual white-out and (IMHO) spoiled an otherwise beautiful picture!!
What else could an aspiring 'photoartist' do? ;-)
