About madison River below Hebgen Lake. this area was flooded and totally under water after the earthquake which block the rivers passage down river. off to the right of this photo you can see old homes and cabins that floated into this valley and as the water went down were deposited along the banks fo the river. I found this road back into this spot finally the 4th year I went to Yellowstone.

Need I also tell you how great this image is? :-)) Ditto, ditto on the other comments.
Special request Jim - when you are at Yellowstone, please capture some of the geysers - specially the very colourful ones!

This is a cracking landscape photo Jim, I cannot add more than what has already been said. The low angle shot is simply magnificent !

Nature can be cruel Jim. She creates such a beautiful place and then tries to destroy it. Fortunately she good at repairs also. Stunning shot though Jim and I also like the low angle.

Great image, and I can imagine it must feel rather spooky. A reminder of what mother nature can do, !

I'm with Ned on this one, Jim. I think it's the low angle that makes this a very-much-above-average shot!! Not only that, but the colours are so deep and rich and the detail throughout the scene is excellent!!
I look forward to the images from your next trip.
Best regards, Chris

Yep, Two weeks tomorrow and I should be there The Good Lord willing !
yes this is an interesting area. if you read all the plaques and signs around there its kind scary, knowing the Yellowstone area is so unstable and there you are. !!
But No better way to go that taking pictures in the Mountains !

Dave

Yes it is hard to believe, but when you are in the valley is almost spooky, I never felt like i was alone. Down river there were I believe 19 people buried and still are from the earthquake. Brutal stuff

Such a beautiful shot, Jim, it's hard to imagine it was the scene of devastation. The colour of the sky and river are unbelievable, you caught it just right!
Dave.
