About Subject Background: You see the cell block in Alcatraz, island in front of San Francisco, where Al Capone stayed for a while. I've been there as part of a PR invitation. Beloved Chrissie is taking some photographs inside the cells where Al lived. Ah look! He's just rushing through the picture... ghosts of the past. Camera was on a mini-tripod standing on the floor.

Photoshop concept: Conversion into BW (very bad lighting there). Mild Sharpening.

As always: Honest feedback highly appreciated.

Hi Verena,

das ist immer so eine sache mit dem kontrast ;-)
bei mir daheim sehen die bilder immer anders als im büro, und manchmal arbeite ich soviel an mitteltönen, dass ich den gesamtkontrast aus den augen verliere. vermutlich hast du recht =)

Hi Thilo,

die 'leichte' Unschärfe gibt eine sehr ungewöhnliche Stimmung, auch die Plazierung auf einem mini-tripod unterstützt die 'andere' Komposition.

Und das sich der Geist von Capone ausgerechnet diesen Moment ausgesucht hat ;)

Aber je länger ich es betrachte, ich glaube ich hätte es noch gerne etwas kontrastreicher.

I see your point about the flaking paint on the wall. There is another pro/con which is a little contradictory: the goast and the woman are placed symmetrically and it makes the image a little static, on the other hand I think this very thing is what lets the vanishing lines of the cells and rails create a bit of an illusion of movement. All this plays with the motion blur of the ghost...

had to struggle exactly with these issues ;-)
first title was "jailhouse Rock". then I remembered the Capone story and switched to it.
as for the wall: I thought about removing it, but then rejected the idea as there are some details in the textures that support the rotten mood here.
