Greetings Ian, I shot this photo at what is known as Hearst Castle on the Central Coast of California USA, also known as San Simeon. It was built by William Randolf Hearst, a very rich American media mogul sometime around the late 1920's to 30's if I recall correctly. You can find more information than you would ever want to know on the internet.
As we were driving up the hill to the castle, the tour guide was apologizing for a foggy day but I was very excited by the possibities as this photo shows.
By the way, I was is New Zealand in 1986 visited Auckland and Queenstowne, what a beautiful country!!!
Thanks for your interest, God bless you Ian

Great atmposphere here. Do you know much about this place. I was in San Diego with friends in a suburb created by greek revivalists in the 1910s. They'd planned to create a community temple etc etc and named the streets after the myths (I was on orpheus st if I recall). It was something to treasure because I thought wow... an american dream.... Is this from the same period?

I like the brooding atmosphere here, like a scene in a film in which something is just about to happen. The touch of grain works very well in creating atmosphere.Excellent photo.regards, Tony.
