Wonderful image of this Great Blue Heron! As was mentioned these guys have no fear of humans and beg for handouts all the time, can be quite pesky when you are surf fishing cause they tend to raid your bait bucket! :-S

Fantastic capture Bill....love the composition, it is natural, and yet almost seems as if you placed the ferns and palms..the crane is nestled in so nicely. Excellent detail and colors..Gloria

Beautiful Photograph Bill, Great colors and clarity. I feel that a little crop of the dark area in the upper right side would improve the Photograph. Put the crane in the upper right third of the photo. (rule 5 of composition)

1. Keep the horizon level;
2. Crop out extra elements that you are not interested in (more on this is the next tip);
3. Consciously place your subject where you think it most belongs rather than just accepting it wherever it happens to land in the photo;
4. Play with perspective so that all lines show a pattern or lead the eye to your main subject;
5. Work with the Rule of Thirds.

Thanks for sharing?

So perfect that it doesn't look real. The position of the bird and the vivid colors. Excellent! - Debby

I believe that is a Great Blue Heron, Bill. A beautifully busy portrait of a fine bird. We used to feed them "trash" fish we caught along the Gulf of Mexico in Texas. They would hang around fishermen, looking for handouts, then it was fun watching them comically run over, stab the fish thrown their way, throw it up in the air and then down it in one gulp, head first. Thanx for the memories...great shot.
