Like a painting of a (Dutch, of course :) ) classic master.
The lines in the grasses are overwhelmingly beautiful and the light is perfect.
Gesellig!

Wonderful and beautiful capture. I really like this in color, and can't imagine it in black and white. Great work.

Hi Tim,
Nice leasurely atmosphere, and I don't think a B&W conversion would do justice to the warm and radiant tones in this one. The colour add alot to the atmosphere. Well composed shot, and excellent lighting.
In the forum, there are a few posts about how to get a good tonal range in B&W from colour scans.
Cheers,
Hugo

Hi Tim - there is also cheating: bending a selected bunch of straws down to the ground :-)

Stefan, thanks for the tip on the paper. I have been working whit higher contrast filters, like 4 or 5 on multi-contrast paper, but that didn't work out all to well. By the way I did take one picture whitout the straw, but to my liking I had to get out of the grass to high. Thanks for the tips! Greets Tim.

Not sure why you would want to print this in b/w with the nice golden glow in the grass and your brother's face, but if you want to go there straight from the negative you might want to consider some Kodak Panalure paper which is designed for this job (b/w prints from color negs). Or you could convert it in a digital editor and have total control and then print the resulting b/w. Regardless, a fine portrait of your brother. Since you did have some control over the situation, did you also take a shot in which the straws do not overlap with his face? Not that it would necessarily be superior, but it would make an interesting comparison.
