The lighthouse was built in 1878 at the mouth of the Salmon River, where it meets Lake Ontario. It is used as an alternative to a hotel, with the exception that it can only be rented to one party at a time. It has 6 bedrooms, so it'll hold a rather large family. The lighthouse is furnished with the last Keeper's furnishings right down to the dishes and pots and pans. The light was re-activated in 1989 by the U.S. Coast Guard, who installed an automatic light system. Imagine spending the night in a lighthouse.
